Pavlo Kyrylenko: Saving people’s lives is a priority 

Military actions in the Donetsk region have been going on for 8 years. After the Russian plan to seize Ukraine in three days failed, they are trying to occupy Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Over the 3 month of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine Russian troops tried to bomb nearly every settlement in that region. Mariupol is occupied, and the civilian population dies every day.

In March 2022, we spoke with the head of the Donetsk military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko. He shared how they prepared for war, how people were evacuated under fire and what would happen in the region.
