From the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Narodnyi Dim volunteer centre in Kryvyi Rih has been accepting those forced out of their homes because of the war. More than 50,000 Ukrainians from various regions have come here for help.
The centre feeds these people, helps them with accommodation, offers psychological and medical aid, and a consultation with lawyers.
Nataliya Patrusheva volunteers here daily and sees very different cases, including people who walked hundreds of kilometres to escape Russian occupation. And if at first those people were from the Kyiv region, then Kharkiv, Mariupol, and Zaporizhzhia, now it is the Kherson region.
“Virtually all of them have post-traumatic syndrome. When people realise that they have no accommodation, work, or anything else, it becomes very painful,” Nataliya said.
