There were two options – suffocate from smoke in the bakery or die from a bullet

On March 1, 2022, a column of Russian military vehicles entered the town of Bashtanka, Mykolaiv oblast. Fighting broke out in the city.

 During the attack by the Russian troops, buildings, stores, and one of the local bakeries were destroyed by shelling and fire.

The owner of the bakery, Yurii, and his co-workers, Olha and Max, were inside of the building, baking bread when they heard the sounds of explosions. The bakery was opened a year ago and is now unfit for work.

 A month later, Yurii and his colleagues found a new building in Bashtanka and reopened the bakery.
