Russian military convoys entered Trostyanets in the Sumy Oblast on the first day of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine — the 24th of February, 2022. For a month, Trostyanets was under the occupation of the Russian military, which was shelling the neighboring Okhtyrka from there.
The occupiers destroyed the railway station and the local chocolate factory.
Armed forces of Ukraine liberated the city on the 25th of March.
